Seascape Cote Bleu

Finished! The blue-green colors were a challenge as they tend to be to intense. So I had to tone them down with grey. Painting this peace was demanding and rewarding at the same time. And I was really pleased with the result. What do you think?

Another Honourable Mention

Ich freue mich über die nächste Auszeichnung bei der Pastel Guild of Europe. Ich arbeite gerade fieberhaft an der Fertigstellung meines Ateliers, deswegen bleibt gerade nicht viel Zeit zum Malen.

Ausstellung im Bürgerhaus Schortens

My first exhibition this year at the Bürgerhaus Schortens from 9th Jan to 4th Feb. The local newspapers reported about it. Pastel Painting which is pretty much unknown in this region might get some more attention. I announced two workshops on 11th and 12th of February and the interest is overwhelming. Looking forward to it.

Steine im Wasser II

Ein intensives Malerlebnis. Bei meinem ersten Bild Steine im Wasser ging es um extreme Reflektionen in der Abendsonne. Es ist eines der am meisten angesehenen Bilder des Blogs. Bei diesem Bild war das Spiel von Licht und Schatten viel komplexer, die Transparenz des Wassers und die warmen Farbtöne waren eine echte Herausforderung. Beim Original ist das Blau der Schatten kaum sichtbar, es ist dem Fotografieren bei künstlichem Licht geschuldet.

This painting was a real challenge. Whereas extreme reflections were the goal of my first painting  Steine im Wasser this time the mix of reflections and transparent water were quite demanding. On the original painting the blue is not as strong as shown here. My lighting is not perfect for taking pictures in the evening.

 Der Workshop hat mir riesigen Spaß gemacht, vielen Dank an die Teilnehmer. Hier mein neustes Werk, ein Fischerboot, an dem ein Lastkahn festgemacht ist.

Es ist einige Zeit vergangen seit meinem letzten Post. Ich war und bin sehr beschäftigt mein Atelier (ein kleiner Raum an meiner Garage) zu bauen, das Dach ist jetzt abgedichtet, eine Heizung an der Wand. Nebenbei entstand dieses Bild.

Long time no posts. I was quite busy getting my studio done, the roof is not leaking anymore and a radiator was put up. Still some work to do but I had to do this little painting.
